Here are some of the before pictures, where the room was just white and boring:
Thanks to everyone's input and debating back and forth, I decided to go for some aqua stripes. Friday night J helped me and we taped up the first wall:
To make this "easier" I decided that the top and bottom stripes needed to remain white so that we weren't having to get down on the floor trying to avoid painting our trim aqua or struggle up on the top trying to avoid painting the ceiling aqua.
Here is what it looks like as of right now:

{I also picked up the ironing board cover that matches the baskets.}
It was VERY difficult for me to get pictures that captured the true color of the stripes and the white in the room (which I promise isn't yellow like it looks on my monitor), the room has no windows and has fluorescent lights. I really love the pattern on the ironing board cover and baskets! It has hints of the same shade of aqua.
The aqua and stripes have definitely given the room a whole new look. Every time I walk in or out, I can't help but smile. They're bright, cheerful and fun! I plan on adding some art work that I've whipped up in Photoshop and a mirror as well.
I did a ton of "research" on the "best" way to paint stripes on textured walls. There are millions of sites with different suggestions. I mostly read through the tips on a post that I bookmarked a while ago from Katie at Centsational Girl. I know that the best decision we made for sure was to keep our top and bottom stripes white. We used Frog Tape (I love that stuff) and after J put it on the walls I grabbed a credit card and made sure it was smooth on the walls before starting to paint. I used a 2.5 inch brush and did my best to not fall off the ladder. I decided we should tackle the project one wall at a time so that I didn't become exhausted painting for hours, so while J taped I took breaks and while I painted he would take a break (taping was just as exhausting as painting). By the time I finished the lowest stripe, I'd hop back on the ladder and start removing tape while the paint was still wet. Once I was done I did some minor touch ups and while it's not perfect in some spots, it's pretty close, so I can live with that. I'm pretty sure some more stripes will be going up soon...most likely in the living room!
Later this week I'll share the art work and mirror that I'll be putting up to finish the room. The mirror was such an AWESOME find at TJ Maxx this morning...I picked up some great goodies that have been on my wish list for a long time. Once our entryway and dining room are back to normal I'll take pictures to share their new gray look, which I LOVE!!
Now, I'm off to catch up on some laundry!
